SoundsGood Records

Benefit compilations, made like real records.

SoundsGood Records makes counterculture soundtracks. Albums built with the artists who play the rooms we produce and our network of artists who are down for the cause - unreleased and rare tracks, live recordings from the rallies themselves, speeches from the people who gave them. Pressed in short runs, rarely repressed, made for the organizations they fund.

Most benefit comps die at the licensing stage. Ours don’t, because we run a label.

What we handle

Artist sourcing and curation. Licensing and publishing clearance. Sequencing, mixing, and mastering. Album art and packaging. Legal. In-store distribution through our deal with Redeye Worldwide, digital download and streaming across all major platforms, direct sales through our online store. And PR - the reason Rolling Stone covered our latest release.

For artists

Your track sits alongside likeminded artists on a record that documents the moment rather than reacting to it. Vinyl for the people who want something to hold, streaming for reach, and a permanent place in the soundtrack of what you were a part of or have cause affinity for.

Where the money goes

On releases we self-produce, everything after hard costs and our overhead fee goes to the beneficiary. We don’t take a cut of what’s left. On records we produce for a client, the client holds the relationship with the beneficiary and we’re paid a defined fee per-sale for label services.

Selected releases

  • Contra-ICE Vol. 1: ICE OUT - benefiting Build Art Make Change
  • [Coming soon] Take America Back: The Fight Oligarchy Album
  • [Coming soon] Creatives for Freedom Vol. 1 - benefiting the ACLU
A record that does something.

The masters, the rights, the pressing and the distribution are the easy half. The hard half is the accounting behind them - and that is the part we built the company around.

How we work

Hand in hand from the first conversation - ideating, concepting, planning, and implementing end to end. One team, one set of numbers, no surprises on the invoice.

Step one

Your brief

Tell us what you need, when you need it, and what it has to achieve. If the budget isn’t set yet, we’ll tell you straight what the right level of investment looks like - and help shape the idea if it’s still forming.

Step two

Your team

A curated team of professionals assembled within days, chosen for the job rather than drawn from whoever happens to be free.

Step three

Your campaign

A dedicated project room, every vendor cost managed for you, and fully transparent accounting and KPI reporting from first build to load-out.
